I’m a year 10 student (aged 15) in London who is interested in mechanical engineering and working with cars. I was informed about a WISE work experience, but it is at the same time as exams so I can’t attend. I really want to find some work experience to do with my career interests.
Can anyone help me with finding some or give me advice on how to pursue my search for work experience?
Thanks very much.

Hi Sami, I’m 14 and in year 10. I have exactly the same problem with the WISE/RAF work experience. So it looks like we have missed the boat for work experience this year. You can contact any local garage for work experience with cars. You need to keep an eye on the WISE website to see if anything opens up.
Hope I helped.
If you are interested in cars when you go back to school register to take part in the Greenpower Challenge http://www.greenpower.co.uk – phone:01243 552305. Taking part will give you experience of team working, different technical roles and piles of fun too! Why not start planning it now!
If you live near Birmingham WES will be holding a session on Saturday 18 September at Aston Uni called ‘My Sparkling Career’ and there should be plenty of young engineers there to chat to you about work opportunities in different areas whether you plan to do an diploma / apprenticeship or foundation degree or degree.
